August of 1992, at the tender age of sixteen, the only world I had ever known was literally blown to bits.  My best friend, who also happened to be my little brother Sam, was shot in the back by a US Marshall.  Twice.  He was fourteen.  The next day my mother was shot in the head as I stood beside her.  She was holding my littlest sister in her arms as she died.  All of this took place on top of a mountain in Northern Idaho at the hands of the United States Government.  You may already be familiar with this story, or parts of it, known to the public as "The Federal Siege at Ruby Ridge." My parents are Randy and Vicki Weaver.  I am the oldest of their four children.

"Make haste O God, to deliver me!
Make haste to help me O Lord!
Let them be ashamed and confounded
who seek my life;
let them be turned back and confused
who desire my hurt…"

Psalm 70:1-3

"Be merciful to me , O God,
for man would swallow me up;
fighting all day he oppresses me.
My enemies would hound me all day,
for there are many who fight against me
O most High.
Whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You."

Psalm 56:1-3

Introduction

The fact that this little book is in existence, is an absolute miracle of God.  He alone has made this possible. I learned of Him from the tender age of seven, but never really knew Him until my late twenties.  Not only has God protected me from physical death (car wrecks, horseback riding accidents, childbirth and FBI snipers) but He has also poured His healing into my wounded heart and given it a good reason to keep on beating.  That is the greatest miracle of all.  The following is my story, in the form of poetry and journal entries and it is all thanks to Him.

"Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live;
and do not let me be ashamed of my hope."

Psalm 119:116

Outlaw Girl

Fall 2007

It twas a bitter day in August
They were outlaws to the world
Gunshots shattered silence
She, a teenage girl

Those moments wrote new pages
In what began her history
Cobwebs formed on poor young heart
As mom and brother's ceased to beat

The mountain had been her comfort
A teacher and a friend
But one cold day in August
Only death was in the wind

Before two days were over
Three lives had been lost
Ruby Ridge the big news story
Only God had count the cost

And tho the mountain silent
'Neath a blanket of purest snow
Outlaw blood cries out for justice
This life will never know

And so she trudges onward
Face tilted toward the sky
Teenage heart a broken memory
Wings clipped too far to fly

Faith fragile as a heartbeat
Clings to the good in man
O' death where is thy victory?
Just 'til Jesus rides again.

Yes, you may have heard of Ruby Ridge, watched the news reports or the Senate Hearings.  You may have read about it on the internet or have seen the made for TV movie. However, the story you haven't heard is the one I am burning to tell. A much, much more important story. This is the story of how the lover of my soul has pulled me from the very depths of despair and set my feet upon a Rock.  A Rock that is bigger than the mountain of Ruby Ridge.  A Rock that will never change.  A Rock that can't be stolen away by this world no matter how hard the storms of life beat against it.  This Rock is my Lord Jesus Christ.  I must tell those that have been wounded by this world, that there is hope.

"He only is my rock and my salvation:
He is my defense; I shall not be moved."

Psalm 62:6

Too Long

Summer 2008

Open this door

Let the Light shine in

For too long Lord

Have eyes been dim

I  am a bit afraid

But this heart wants more

Let the Light shine in

Please open this door

There is no such thing as coincidence.  It is not by chance that you have this very writing in your hands.  My story is now a part of yours.  The God of all creation has just set you up.  Are you brave enough to come along for the ride?  This journey requires faith and an open heart. It's okay if you don't yet possess those……curiosity is a good start.  Fasten your seatbelt friend, you are an important participant in this drama called life.  Once you grasp that truth you will be changed forever……..I know I was.

"And you shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free."

John 8:32
